WORDS of WISDOM✪ They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel...
✪ Focus on your strengths! ✪ Have an ATTITUDE of GRATITUDE when it comes to securing a job. Don't expect to be the cat's pajamas right away. ✪ Check your email daily…it seems simple, but some people are terrible at communicating in a timely fashion. ✪ Your past EXPERIENCE is what truly secures you a job or internship. "It's who you know" will only take you so far. ✪ Don't listen to blanketed statements like "There are no jobs!" That's hogwash. Those are the people who send the same applications to every job and only use limited resources (ex. Career Builder). ✪ There are two resources to find opportunity, PEOPLE and POSTINGS. You need to leverage both. ✪ When it comes to Networking, you no longer have "friends", "family", "professors", "classmates"…they are all contacts to learn from and find opportunity. ✪ It's not "What can I do with my major?" Rather, it's "What can I do with my experiences, skills, and passions? ✪ Be ready to talk about yourself professionally and ask questions of others at the drop of a hat. ✪ You are always Networking, so think twice when you're out in public and on social media! ✪ Sometimes you will need to FAIL to Succeed. Embrace your faults and turn them into strengths. ✪ Employers aren't perfect. Don't always think it's your fault that you didn't get a position. Sometimes they don't assess talent effectively. ✪ In an interview, you are not the only one being assessed. They brought you in for a reason. They are nervous too because they are competing for you. Make sure to interview them to see if it is a good fit. ✪ When it comes to selling your experiences to anyone at anytime, remember three things: Content (your basic background and what makes you unique), Connect (create a two way conversation and ask questions), Confidence (believe in all that you have to offer). ✪ When asking questions, give information to get information. This shows you did your homework. ✪ How long should a resume be? How long is a good book, movie, song? Show your most relevant experience first and supplement from there. If they like what they see, they'll keep reading! ✪Start with what you love to do! ✪ Put yourself out there and make as many ripples as you can... #captaincareerquotes
